Should I start treatment during this worldwide pandemic?

The Ho Tai Way recognizes the challenges posed by the current COVID-19 Pandemic and is providing the following the additional guidelines and resources to assist our clients and staff in any manner possible to protect them.

COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus spread by the respiratory route and contact with contaminated surfaces. It appears to be highly contagious and has a significant morbidity and mortality rate. Because these attributes are known and because this agent has been identified as responsible for a global pandemic, it is essential that The Ho Tai Way has implemented plans to protect our clients and staff from infection to the greatest extent possible. The following are aimed at decreasing the likelihood of infection and viral transmission and providing for the health needs of our clients. Because of the substantial risk of coronavirus spread with congregation of individuals in a limited space such as in an inpatient or residential facility, The Ho Tai Way follows a set of standards for disinfection and sterilization daily as set up by the government health inspection guidelines in addition to The Joint Commission guidelines. Our staff not only stays informed on any changes in addiction treatment, but we also on top of any viruses, diseases and any other health related issues that might impact the safety of our clients and staff. Our practice of maintaining impeccable health standards is proactive, and for this reason, we have a protocol already cemented into our daily schedule that protects everyone in our facility against the coronavirus.

We began these step-ups to our procedures weeks ago and continue to refer to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the most current updates. It is essential to have a clean and sterile environment and our facility has already increased the number of cleanings per day. These cleanings include a disinfectant checklist to be certain that no surface or corner goes ignored.

Enhanced Safety Precautions During COVID-19 Pandemic

Our admissions staff has additional screening questions during the pre-assessment to determine the risk of potential or incoming patients. Our Behavioral Health Technicians (BHT) will be taking the vitals of each patient every morning. The vitals will be kept confidential so as not to spark unwarranted fears throughout the community. The behavioral technicians, doctors, and therapists are already trained and experienced in observing the behavior, moods, and whereabouts of our clients and will continue to do so. They have been thoroughly advised of what to look for in terms of any signs or symptoms of this illness or others and understand the protocol they are to follow.
